7 Hours on the Razor is an endurance event on China Peak Mountain Resort’s “Razorback” -- one of the mountain’s more advanced runs. Participants will ride Chair 1, ski or snowboard down Upper and Middle Razorback to Mainstream, and repeat. The entire route will be groomed for this event. Snack items and drinks will be provided for participants at the loading of Chair #1 throughout the day.
Participants are encouraged to put on a costume and collect pledges to benefit the Central California Adaptive Sports Center. Various prize categories will be awarded, including the most money raised, the best costumes, and the most laps completed.
CCASC is a non-profit organization located at the China Peak Mountain Resort with a mission to provide life-enhancing, year-round recreation activities for persons with disabilities and their families.
How it Works
Participants may ski/ride individually (or as part of any kind of team or group) for all 7 hours. You may stop/rest as often as you like. Laps will be counted each time you pass through the loading of Chair 1.
The Course: At the start of the day, participants will place their skis a short distance from the chair lift then run up to their skis/boards and ski/board down to the loading of Chair 1. Competitors must use the dedicated lift line; not the lines open to the public. Participants will ride Chair 1, ski or snowboard down the mountain via Razorback to Mainstream, and repeat. All participants are to use caution when approaching intersections, as the mountain remains open to the public. Helmets are required.
Pledging: Enlist your friends, family and coworkers in your effort to conquer the “Razor” in support of CCASC by collecting pledges for completing the event. All money raised will go to support CCASC. Pledges may be collected online or by paper pledge forms made available when you register.
Sponsor a Participant: You may also support CCASC and 7 Hours on the Razor by sponsoring another participant who cannot afford the registration fee. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 559-593-3504 if you would like to become a participant sponsor.
Registration: Limited to 100 participants. Registration will open on December 1, 2016. Registration is $40 for adults; $30 for college students; and $20 for youth under 18. To register, please use the registration link to the left. If you have any questions, call 559-593-2504.
Social teams: All participants should register as individuals, but anyone can ski as part of a "social team." If you want to start a "social team," simply choose a team captain and name and email them to email@example.com (or call 559-341-6046). Once your team is set up, any participant may join your team once they login with the username and password they will set up upon registration. (Once logged in, mouse over your own name in the upper right corner and select Group Management. From there you can follow the links to "join a team.")
Youth 15 & Under: Are required to have a parent or responsible adult ski with them.
